ANCHOR COMMUNITY INItiATIVE

Through a movement, A Way Home Washington, the ACI is helping youth and young adults battling homelessness. One of the key components of helping youth is providing them with a clear path of where to go and who to contact in their journey. The ACI was seeking a rebrand for their Coordinated Entry System, along with a flowchart.

ABOUT THE PROJECT – I was tasked with designing a flowchart for the Coordinated Entry System, design guidelines for future use, and a logo for the CES. The Anchor Community Initiative noticed that, in many cases, youth seeking housing in Spokane (and surrounding counties) were confused by the existing system or how to enter it.

Therefore, to solve this problem, I created an 8.5”x11” handout that can be folded in 1/6ths that can be discreetly placed in a pocket or backpack. This foldable makes it easier for homeless youth to navigate the Coordinated Entry System and get the help they need, when they need it most.

ABOUT THE DESIGN – My goal for the design was to create a tangible map that felt both inviting and approachable. I wanted to emphasize community and reinforce ACI’s “Yes to Yes” mission, which epitomizes meeting youth wherever they may be in life to help them reach their goals. I wanted the flowchart and CES logo to communicate solidarity, comfort, and direction, while appealing to the ACI’s age bracket of 12-25.

The global logo seeks to encompass community and hope and speaks to the idea that with the proper help, the world will keep turning despite the helplessness individuals may feel in times of need. The logo also features calming colors with a subtle gradient, which represents movement and transition from one place to another.
